Cloud computing 'coming of age' in large businesses
Cloud computing is "coming of age" in large businesses, according to a survey which reveals that 92 per cent of large-sized firms use at least one form of cloud technology.
CA Technologies found that 80 per cent of businesses of any size also use at least one form of cloud computing as they look for ways to reduce the costs of their long-term computer technology costs.
Furthermore, 35 per cent are using hosted applications and systems to gain greater cost control with a similar percentage doing it to increase efficiency.
Adam Famularo, the general manager of cloud computing business at CA, said that the results show that bigger businesses are "exploring the benefits of the cloud".
"It validates a trend we predicted, that IT executives are rapidly becoming orchestrators of an IT supply chain made up of internal and external services," he said.
Pike's research department predicted earlier this week that cloud computing revenues would reach £134.6 billion by 2015 as more firms adopt the technology.
