Managed hosting on the rise in business process management
More firms are turning to managed hosting services when it comes to business process management (BPM), new research indicates.
According to Gartner, some 40 per cent of organisations with BPM initiatives in place are now utilising public or private cloud-based services for the delivery of at least ten per cent of their BPM processes.
Michele Cantara, research vice president at Gartner, explained that managers of shared-service centres directed to standardise business processes are finding that cloud-enabled BPM can provide a solid foundation.
"Many business process improvement leaders are looking to understand how cloud services and cloud platforms can help them improve business processes in their organisations, as well as inter-enterprise processes that touch partners, suppliers and customers," she added.
The survey by the research company also indicated that BPM platform-as-a-service and cloud-enabled BPM platforms are often confused.
While the former refers to BPM technology delivered as a service by a managed hosting partner, the latter involves BPM platforms that can support cloud services.
