Firms realising it is cheaper to use cloud services, expert says
Businesses have realised that it is better to be green and use cloud hosting services instead of having "IT staff to maintain email and servers".
That is according to David Buffett, chief executive officer of Radiant Communications, who told the Vancouver Sun that having another company look after IT systems gives businesses more value.
Furthermore, he added that using cloud services can help companies become green and environmentally friendly.
IBM announced earlier this week that it will be changing its structures and prices to encourage more businesses to use cloud computing.
Mr Buffett added that while companies such as IBM can fund computer service hosting, smaller firms should look at using cloud.
"If you had to go and build 100 small purpose-built data centres, the cost to cool them, the cost for power and everything else would be considerable," he told the news provider.
"IBM did a study - there was around 60 per cent savings in energy consumption if you outsourced to a purpose-built data centre."
