Ecommerce jobs 'set to rise by 2015'
The number of people employed in the ecommerce industry is set to rise significantly by 2015, experts have calculated.
According to new research from IMRG and eDigitalResearch, the number of people with jobs in the sector could reach 1.5 million in the UK alone.
The predictions come after 74 per cent of ecommerce businesses reported an increased turnover in the past 12 months.
In addition, 60 per cent of departments revealed they were looking to take on more staff members in the upcoming year.
"With a third of the UK's adult population yet to shop online, e-retail is set to continue to be a key employment generator for years to come," claimed chief executive of IMRG James Roper.
Meanwhile, Yell Group - the producer of the Yellow Pages - has announced plans to purchase ecommerce technology provider Znode to allow local businesses to sell products from their online directory listings.
