Security for cloud computing solutions can be just as reliable as those for personally-networked infrastructures, one expert has insisted.
Data security issues can be protected with core systems and firewalls - similar to those used for personal security, according to Mark Dampster, an expert and associate for the Centre for Cyber Security, which works with various organisations to develop policy and training in cyber security.
He said: "There is no reason why the cloud service cannot be as secure as personally-networked infrastructure, unless it is 'air gapped' and then the only concern is who has access."
Mr Dampster added that it makes sense to consolidate data from cloud computing in the most efficient way using secure, authenticated paths for the users of the service such as passwords, secure access and encryption if needed.
A study by global consulting company Protiviti recently revealed that 74 per cent of company bosses do not think cloud computing would benefit their firm.
