Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora Core
As the leading web hosting company in the UK in terms of bringing innovative new tools to all our customers, we are pleased to announce that we have now begun offering Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Fedora Core across the whole of our Linux Root dedicated server range.
What is the difference?
The move to offer both RH-Managed distributions of the Linux operating system follows Red Hat’s decision to branch their delivery channels into Community and Enterprise releases. A global steering committee at Red Hat decided that Red Hat Linux was suffering from too many compromises as a retail "product", and that they should redirect their efforts at creating two differing strands of the Red Hat Brand:
The Fedora Project: A a group-based venture, sponsored by Red Hat in terms of resources, and open, influenced and accessible to the global Linux community.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux: Certified by top enterprise software and hardware vendors and backed by the Red Hat Network and 24x7 RH support, Red Hat Enterprise Linux is the premier operating platform for open source server solutions.
How much will they cost?
Hostway are pleased to offer the products in line with our policy of ensuring choice for customers of any size or needs. Fedora Core 2 is available as standard on all servers for no extra cost. Red Hat Enterprise is available for a monthly or annual fee, depending on the method of payment.
