ASP.NET - Active Server Pages
ASP pages are HTML pages containing scripts (VBScript or JavaScript) that are processed by a Web server before the page displays to the user. Because ASP pages are dynamically generated, they enable you to tailor or customise your Web content to the person viewing it. ASP.net is the next generation of Microsoft's Active Server Pages (ASP) ; it supports code written in compiled languages like C++, C# and Visual BasicASP. The ASP.net framework is now supported across all Hostway's Windows® plans.
Database Capabilities - SQL Server 2000
With the Windows 2003 Platinum Plan, you get MSSQL2000 database functionality. Microsoft's SQL database software is designed for high performance database querying and larger-scale projects. We support version 2000 and allow you to connect remotely via Enterprise Manager to edit and manage your databases. The standard database size is 30 MB (20 MB database with a 10 MB log). Languages such as ASP and ColdFusion can be used to query the data in your Microsoft SQL Server database.
PHP5 scripting support
PHP5 is the latest incarnation of the popular open-source scripting language PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor; an open source, server-side, HTML embedded scripting language used to create dynamic Web pages in a simlilar way to ASP. It is compatible with many different types of databases and is now in its 5th incarnation and represents a major step forward in terms of designing and developing dynamically-driven websites. Support for PHP scripting is provided on all Windows plans.
Multimedia Capabilities - Windows Media Server®
Instead of creating pages with pure text, spice it up by adding video, audio and other multimedia.
